A Letter from Gaza

Letter from Norwegian hero doctor who is in Gaza right now
Dr. Mads Gilbert MD PhD

Dearest friends -
The last night was extreme. The "ground invasion" of Gaza resulted in scores and carloads with maimed, torn apart, bleeding, shivering, dying - all sorts of injured Palestinians, all ages, all civilians, all innocent.
The heroes in the ambulances and in all of Gaza's hospitals are working 12-24hrs shifts, grey from fatigue and inhuman workloads (without payment all in Shifa for the last 4 months), they care, triage, try to understand the incomprehensible chaos of bodies, sizes, limbs, walking, not walking, breathing, not breathing, bleeding, not bleeding humans. HUMANS!
Now, once more treated like animals by "the most moral army in the world" (sic!).
My respect for the wounded is endless, in their contained determination in the midst of pain, agony and shock; my admiration for the staff and volunteers is endless, my closeness to the Palestinian "sumud" gives me strength, although in glimpses I just want to scream, hold someone tight, cry, smell the skin and hair of the warm child, covered in blood, protect ourselves in an endless embrace - but we cannot afford that, nor can they.
Ashy grey faces - Oh NO! not one more load of tens of maimed and bleeding, we still have lakes of blood on the floor in the ER, piles of dripping, blood-soaked bandages to clear out - oh - the cleaners, everywhere, swiftly shovelling the blood and discarded tissues, hair, clothes, cannulas - the leftovers from death - all taken away...to be prepared again, to be repeated all over. More then 100 cases came to Shifa last 24 hrs. enough for a large well trained hospital with everything, but here - almost nothing: electricity, water, disposables, drugs, OR-tables, instruments, monitors - all rusted and as if taken from museums of yesterdays hospitals. But they do not complain, these heroes. They get on with it, like warriors, head on, enormous resolute.t

And as I write these words to you, alone, on a bed, my tears flows, the warm but useless tears of pain and grief, of anger and fear. This is not happening!
An then, just now, the orchestra of the Israeli war-machine starts its gruesome symphony again, just now: salvos of artillery from the navy boats just down on the shores, the roaring F16, the sickening drones (Arabic 'Zennanis', the hummers), and the cluttering Apaches. So much made and paid in and by US.
Mr. Obama - do you have a heart?
I invite you - spend one night - just one night - with us in Shifa. Disguised as a cleaner, maybe.
I am convinced, 100%, it would change history.
Nobody with a heart AND power could ever walk away from a night in Shifa without being determined to end the slaughter of the Palestinian people.
But the heartless and merciless have done their calculations and planned another "dahyia" onslaught on Gaza.
The rivers of blood will keep running the coming night. I can hear they have tuned their instruments of death.
Please. Do what you can. This, THIS cannot continue.

Teluk Waru: A Long Way to School

Posted by Unknown at 4:33 PM 0 comments

It's the longest way to school I've ever experienced.

Benar-benar pelajaran berharga buat saya ...

Halt and Catch Fire

It's a new TV series I'm in love with. If you are a computer geek, I recommend you to watch this series. It's kinda geeky stuff. Just watched the pilot episode "I/0" last Thursday n now waiting for the premiere next June 1 (psssttt, Lee Pace is in this series n he's just too charming to ignore. Lol)

But unfortunately, this series isn't aired in some countries, included Indonesia. I need to download the episodes using Torrent (via Kickass) n it has no Indonesian subtitle (hahaha). Thanks to Torrent anyway.

My Daily (not so) Hot Stuff ^_^v

Posted by Unknown at 5:56 AM 0 comments

Here below are the things I take to work every day:

1. Cute blue backpack by Asma Nadia. I bought it 3 years ago. This is my fave bag for all occasion. It's small, handy and waterproof. Unfortunately, Asma Nadia stopped producing this backpack n I don't think the new style is as cute as this one :(

2. Tribal pouch from Gogirl! Magazine. I love the colors n it's waterproof. So it's the best stuff to keep my handphone, modem, earphone and flashdisk.

3. Burberry look umbrella. Well, the weather in Balikpapan is so unpredictable. It can be bright in the morning, but suddenly change to stormy rain at noon or so. This umbrella saves me many times from sudden rain or sunstroke :p

4. Gemini Blackberry Curve. Though I have got the newest gadget, it's still my best. I bought it 4 years ago. I save most of my favorite playlist in it. I even save my fave recipe, song lyrics, prayer,  Al-Qur'an, fave quotes, Thranduil fanfic and working schedule. Every time I need them, All I have to is press the button n scroll :-)

5. 'I Love London' schedule book. I need it to keep my job on the track. And I am a li'l bit crazy about  all kinds of cute agenda. I can't help to buy one whenever I go to stationary shop. To be honest, I still have five other new schedule books at home :D

6. Drawing pen. I can't write well without it. I have used this kind of pen since I was a high schooler. I also keep a Paris theme ballpoint which is one of last year birthday gifts I got from besties.

Yup, those are 6 things I need to make my days fun and easy.

Doodle My Way :-)

Posted by Unknown at 5:49 AM 0 comments
Sejak umur 4 tahun saya udah suka banget doodle alias corat-coret.

Toh, meskipun demikian, saya gak berkecil hati. Hahaha.

Gara-gara kebiasaan coret-coret di sembarang tempat, beberapa teman mulai maksa saya ikutan lomba komik n manga. Tapi saya gak nanggepin serius. Wong bakat cuma ala kadarnya kok nekat mau lomba? Hah, gila kali ye?

Nah, puncaknya minggu lalu. Saya ditawarin ikutan Workshop Kompetisi Komik Indonesia 2014. "Ambil ilmunya aja. Kan gak papa ngerti teori doang." Gitu alasan mereka.

Begitulah.

Semoga bermanfaat :-)

Faaza (not Masha) and the Bear

Posted by Unknown at 2:08 AM 0 comments
